Annual  General Meeting held Saturday, October 24, 2015

Wendy called the meeting to order at 1:05 pm.  

The AGM minutes of October 25, 2014 was adopted by Irene Brooks, seconded by Karen Mallon.  Carried.

The minutes of the general meeting held May 17, 2015 were adopted by Don Mallon, seconded by Bill Nelson.  Carried.

Treasurer’s Report:  as circulated.    Brian Douillard moved to accept the report, seconded by Norm Clarkson.  Carried.  

Karen recommended that the fees for next year should be as follows due to the dock maintenance (see below discussion under Building Committee report) .

$405 membership dues, $10 per person social fund, Contingency fund of $50  for a total of $465.00 for a single or $475.00 for a couple.  Initiation $500.  

Tony Lucia moved, George Wiley seconded.  Carried.  

Correspondence:

  • .Information and poster received advertising the Vancouver Boat Show January 20-24, 2016. 

  • .Wendy mentioned that Norpac has been emailing her with regard to using the club for one night on July 24, 2016.  Could all members please keep this in mind when booking time at the Club.

Motion to accept Tom’s nominations report Don Mallon, seconded by Barb Wiley.  Carried.

Membership Report:

  • .We currently have a total of 33 boats. Our cap as of May 20, 2012 is 40 members.  

  • .There was an Application from David and Jennifer Maher for membership to the club.  Darrin Olson spoke to this application and the normal process will occur. 

  • .We presently have on file an application from Wilmans’.  Discussion.  Concerns about dock space.  No sponsor present to speak to this application.  There was a secret ballot vote taken and it was defeated.  A letter will be sent to the Wilmans’. 

 

Fleet Captain Report – Tom Hall – May Long Weekend fed about 35 people.  Tom thanked Diane Wilson for inviting everyone to their home after this meeting for dinner.  

Building Report – Don Mallon  Recommendation to the membership that the docks should be the number one project.  We need about $12,000 for the project as another eight sections of dock must be built to totally redo the visitors dock.  

Project II – rent two cut-off saws and group of six fellows would cut up steel sticks, roll onto the float and take out and sink.

Project III – Tony Lucia is working on building new supports for the ramp at the south end of the docks.

Report  accepted by Norm Clarkson, seconded by Ray LaSota.  Carried.

It was suggested that anyone look into the best process to use regarding securing the docks before we continue this process.   Don will contact past members if possible.  Please contact Don Mallon with suggestions.  

  • -.Tony Luccia reported that the supports under the south end ramp need a great deal of attention as the metal is very thing.  Building Committee to discuss and come together with a plan. 

  • -.The flag pole needs painting.  

  • -.Dennis thanked members who helped with fixing the dam during the summer. 

Website – John Wilson – reported that they would like one more person to help with the website.  Please contact John if you could help.  

John made a motion that the website to be used as the precedent in booking rooms.  Ken Brooks moved, Don Mallon seconded.  Carried.

**Please note:  After booking a room members should check that the booking has been correctly recorded on the internet calendar and they must PRINT out the calendar page and arrive with it at the clubhouse.  The calendar copy will act as a reservation as well as a reminder to the member as to which room(s) they have booked.Re: Secretary stuff

 

Old Business:

  • -.BC Societies Act – changes will be coming out in the near future and we will conform. 

  • -.Business discounts and members cards – John still checking and more information will be on the Members’ website.  Watch!  New member cards have been made up and handed out when fees are paid. 

  • -.THE PAYC application form needs updating as well as the communal living information.   

  • -.Brochures – needed for marinas and businesses in town.   

  • -.Burgees  – available from Patti. 

  • -.The old Howards Marina has space for storing boats.  

  • -.Lost and found – Wendy has a watch. 

New Business:

  • -.Tom and Darrin thanked Wendy for her past two years as Commodore.  

  • -.Christmas party to be held at Wilsons on December 12, 2015 (tentatively).  More info to come.
